Is Nimodipine compatible with breastfeeding? Do we have alternatives for Nimodipine?

September 30, 2014 (Very Low Risk)

Excreted into breast milk in a non-significant amount.

Because of pharmacokinetic data (high protein-binding capacity and low oral bioavailability) the observed low excretion into breast milk would be explained.

Nimodipine does not alter secretion of Prolactin.

We do not have alternatives for Nimodipine since it is relatively safe.

Very Low Risk

Compatible. Not risky for breastfeeding or infant.

Low Risk

Moderately safe. Mild risk possible. Follow up recommended. Read the Comment.

High Risk
